Tonight I went to a comedy club with some friends to see an old college buddy perform. At the end of the regular acts, they introduced Darrell Hammond, of Saturday Night Live (he does Clinton, Cheney, and so on), to do a set.
Toward the end, he asked the audience what had been in the news today. (He'd just gotten off a plane, apparently.) A few people yelled, "Scooter!" "What?" "Scooter Libby! Guilty!"
He answered, "Oh, really?" Big pause, then, completely deadpan: "What was he charged with?"
I think those last five words, intentionally or not, sum up the entire case perfectly. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.
